Frequently Asked Questions
Mirage retractable screens are housed in a slim aluminum cartridge mounted to one side of your door or opening. When you want the screen, you simply pull the handle across the opening — the screen mesh unrolls from the housing and latches magnetically on the other side. When you're done, release the latch and the screen retracts smoothly back into the housing, completely out of sight. The HydraGlide speed reducer ensures it never snaps back.
A single door screen typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour to install. French door installations take a bit longer — usually 1 to 1.5 hours. We handle everything on-site: precise measuring, cutting, fitting, and a full walkthrough so you understand how to operate and care for your new screen. Larger patio and motorized installations vary depending on the scope.
Yes. Mirage screens are designed and manufactured in Canada, so they're built for our climate. Since the screen retracts into a sealed housing when not in use, it's protected from snow, ice, and UV exposure during the off-season. The aluminum housing, brass bushings, and stainless steel components resist corrosion and temperature cycling. We recommend retracting the screen during winter months when you're not using it — which takes all of two seconds.
